for (Hamilton) City Councillor
My name is Marlon Picken, and I'm a candidate for Hamilton City Council in the Ward 8 by-election. I believe that together, we can do things differently in Hamilton. We can make our priorities the Council's priorities—from building public, affordable, and cooperative housing to making our streets and sidewalks safer for drivers, pedestrians, and workers.
I believe in being accessible to residents and actively working to build our community. Below are the highlights of my life experience, the organisations I work with, and the skills I bring.
Community Engagement
Local Leadership
Community Building
Healthcare worker for 18 years caring for thousands of patients at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre
Fighting for healthy workplaces, better healthcare for our communities, and fairness for RPNs, Environmental Aides, Porters, Social Workers, and all Healthcare Heroes
I'm a trained journalist and critical thinker
Hands-on experience in the workings of Committees of Hamilton City Council and collaborating with City Staff
20 years of experience connecting community and building solidarity and policy in Hamilton
Supporter of housing rights by-laws for low and moderate income Hamiltonians including Heat Stress in rental units
Participant in local business programming and beautification
With your support, I know we can successfully press our priorities at the Council table. I look forward to listening and hearing from you this election and in the future.
Please take the opportunity to connect with me and my team on our website at marlonpicken.com where you will find our interactive priorities poll.
And of course, I hope you'll be "Picken' Marlon" at the Advanced Polls September 15-21 or on election day, September 22.
With my heartfelt thanks,
Marlon Picken
